HIV and Lipodystrophy

The medical definition of lipodystrophy appointed as a disorder linked to poor distribution of body fat, which tends to worsen progressively. However, nothing says you print marks on the human figure, which become telltale sign of evil in the background, AIDS. Prominent breasts and bellies, sunken cheeks, arms and legs and are consumed more obvious signs.
“For those with access to medication, AIDS went from being the illness of the 80′s, a chronic infection. The benefits of these techniques are indisputable, however, present new challenges, “says Marcela, patient and member of the Buenos Aires Network of People Living with HIV, created in 2000.
According tells the woman on the extensive list of cosmetic and personal problems that result from developing lipodystrophy, must be attached the absence of public policies and programs that take into account the problems, in order to reduce dropout rates of antiretroviral treatment on the one hand, as well as generate responses to new challenges posed by the epidemic, on the other.
“The issue is not even part of the agendas of NGOs and networks of people with HIV. And health care is proposed as a lesser evil, relativizing the patient complaints as a simple matter of vanity, “laments Marcela. Therefore, one of the major challenges of medicine in this matter, as raised, should be “stare there, where there was a diversion.”
Just looking to redirect the work of the scientific community towards this way, the agency conducted a photographic exhibition with dozens of images of patients, and hard evidence.

Five Foods that burn fat

Three of the five best super foods are excellent sources of essential fatty acids omega-3 (AGE). This is because there is evidence that omega-3 fatty acids may increase thermogenesis, and dispel the calories as body heat rather than stored as body fat.
Current research suggests that essential fatty acids may be able to directly influence important metabolic genes in our cells, the genes that control the way that synthesizes glycogen and how to store and burn fat.
This may be due to a substance which, when bound to fats and essential fatty acids, can “turn on” key genes involved in fat burning.
1. Sardines and other cold water fish
Our bodies need the kind of fat that helps us to burn body fat. Cold water fish is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. Sardines promote fat burning and provide calcium.
A study by the University of Tennessee confirmed that patients with a diet of 1,200 to 1,300 mg of calcium a day lost nearly twice as much weight as those who consumed less calcium. And a final note – the sardines are outstanding sources of protein, which helps to burn body fat while producing a decrease in appetite.
2. Beef (grass fed)
The grass-fed beef is up to three times leaner than grain-fed. The grass-fed meat also provides more and more balanced relationship: omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which help protect against a variety of ailments. A great source of protein, grass-fed beef will help maintain lean muscle mass, while allowing us to burn body fat as fuel.
When we add omega-3 in our diet (either cold water fish such as sardines and salmon, fish oil or beef grass-fed) begin to “sensitize” our cells to insulin. The correct balance of essential fatty acid diet allows recipients to respond to small amounts of insulin to help us maintain healthy levels of blood sugar and to ensure adequate absorption of Read the rest of this entry »
Personality and Addiction

Drugs can change the personality of an individual, but it is also true that certain characters ‘push’ more than others to consume. Proof of this are the results of a new Spanish study shows that adolescents psychostimulants consumers have a personality different from those not taking either cocaine or ecstasy. The former tend to be rebellious, oppositional and impulsive. The latter, submissive and conformist.
“Drug use among youth has important consequences at the time of use (accidents, decreased school performance, unwanted pregnancy …) and in the subsequent development of the individual … According to the latest study of the Spanish Observatory on Drugs, carried out between students from 14 to 18 years, 5% had ever used cocaine in the last year and 2.7%, ecstasy, “the researchers documented in their study, published in ‘Psicothema’.
Some previous studies have found that adolescents who consumed more likely to suffer from personality disorder or being antisocial, oppositional, sadistic and self-defeating. “Our goal was to determine whether there are differences between consumers and those who are not. And yes, they exist. There are personality traits, as the rebellious and impulsive that they can determine not only the beginning in consumption, but are a risk factor for developing subsequent problems of abuse. Especially if we take into Read the rest of this entry »

The study, presented today at the National Sports Council (CSD), confirms that 35% made less than two hours of exercise per week, lower than that recommended by the WHO points out that the achievement of health benefits in this group practice requires at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity intensity, according to news agency Efe.

Importance of Cholesterol Control

This was established a survey conducted by TNS Gallup released by the Heart Foundation Argentina. Not knowing the cholesterol level is to ignore one of the two major risk factors for stroke. Recommend control studies done early.
“Knowing your cholesterol levels is important to control it early,” said the daily Clarin foundation president, Ricardo Iglesias. The survey was administered to 1,010 people over 18 years, at the request of a company that produces dairy and also sponsors social projects of the foundation.
According to survey results, it was identified that the general population still has no awareness of cholesterol as risk factors or take preventive measures such as frequent physical activity and healthy eating.
43% of respondents said they know their cholesterol levels because it is a routine medical checkup, while 28% responded that cholesterol was not measured because they do not have any symptoms. Keep in mind that high cholesterol has no symptoms.
“The lack of symptoms makes people think you do not have cholesterol problems. Young people also think their age is at risk of that problem, “said Iglesias.
“After 18 years, you have to do a blood test every five years. If you give abnormal results, consult a professional who will give directions for each patient, “said Richard King, head of prevention and epidemiology of the Cardiovascular Institute of Buenos Aires (ICBA).
Recommendations for those who register from normal levels, there is physical activity, not to eat sausages or invoices, or other saturated fat products. “Ideally, a6 4 times a week with brisk walking, jogging, swimming or biking,” noted Robert Peidro.
